Combining ability of a highly productive hybrid, RAHH 102, was studied in a line x tester analysis of resulting F4 populations. Analysis of variance indicated predominance of non-additive variance for all fiber quality traits studied. The mean sums of squares (MSS) due to females were significant for 2.5% span length, 50 % span length, fiber strength to length ratio, lint index, seed index, and elongation. Lines x tester interactions were also significant for all characters under study. Effects due to SCA were significant for 2.5% span length in only ten crosses, of which six were in a positive direction. The cross R-23 (102) x RAHH 136 had the highest positive SCA effects (2.13 mm).
